My Design Philosophy

I noticed that most websites today looked the same with lots of white and a severe lack of color. While I believed that this could work for some brands, I was disheartened to find that it was almost every major brand. I wanted to change this, so I set out to redesign the minimalist landscapes of modern website design.

Wireframes

Design Philosophy: My main focus when it came to designing my commerce website was to focus on the colors and use those colors to bring new eyes and draw people to this brand I made up. So when it came to the wireframe layout a lot of my inspiration drew from other store pages, which gave me the freedom to build off it better when I added substance.

Final Design

Color Theory: I wanted to introduce a warm homey feel to this brand, to do this I made sure to look at the color wheel, as well as look into color theory. Commonly, pastel softer colors make people feel more relaxed. This relaxation would make the brand a staple in their minds. The positive correlation between the brand colors would make the website common in their shopping habits. This factor would help build a relationship with the customer, which would make them tell their friends bringing in more online traffic and growing the brand. In addition, This softness allowed for other lighter colors to complement the design such as the greenery adding to the luxurious comfy home atmosphere the website was built to capture.

Design Philosophy: Besides color theory, I also wanted to make sure that the functions that were implemented were also user-friendly for those who might be impaired or have any other disabilities. One factor I made sure to target was the importance of contrast needed to make reading easier. So I made sure to use pieces of white to have the contrast between the busy background and the important text in the forefront. This also had an added benefit for users because it draws the user’s eyes to the most important aspects of the website which helps the process of finding a product to purchasing easier.
